Grady, the youngest son of the late Martin Van Buren and Jimmie Lee Griffin Mixon, was born December 5, 1952 in Dale County, Alabama. He was a graduate of Carroll High School, class of 1971, in Ozark and a graduate of Troy University.
Most of Grady’s working life was with Pemco Aviation in Napier Field. He retired from Pemco in 2003 leaving many good friends and memories. Grady was smart, possessed a keen wit, made and kept a host of friends. Long live his memory.
May he find the peace that passeth all understanding.
Grady is survived by his sisters, Ann Morrison (Bill) of Tampa, Fl. and Janice Long (Bill) of Miramar Bch., Fl.; brothers, Ralph Mixon (Betty) of Ozark, Al., Martin Mixon (Karen) of Monroe, La., and Bryant Mixon (Teck) of Ozark, Al.; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Grady had been friends of my deceased husband , Gordon Kemp when they were kids , school, the Ozark Police Dept. and when we all went to New Orleans to work at the oil refinery. Grady and I have been Facebook friends a long time and I told him I was coming home to Ozark 2 weeks before he died. He said to make sure to let him know when I got here. I tried to FB Jimmie a few more times but no answer. Now I know why. I was not aware of his death. Your brother Bryant was a verygood, kind friend and really helped me when Gordon died 2 yrs ago! He will be missed!!! He was a wonderful man and we shall see him in Heaven with Gordon someday!!!🌸✝️

Lydia and I send our prayers and deepest heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your loving Grady. It is never easy to accept, but an essential part of life’s journey to heaven’s gate. Do not weep or morn, for his spirit lives with the Lord our God. Dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to the God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:7

So difficult to comprehend. What a wonderful and humorous person. He kept me laughing. Always a kind smile and a wonderful hug. He was a genuinely nice person. There are no words to describe this sweet man. You will be missed by many. It was about two or more years ago since I ran into you on my visit to Ozark. I had no idea that God planned for that to be our last visit. Yes, a smile and a hug!! So long Grady.....,,..
